Deep in Motherhood with a Velcro Baby

I am deep in motherhood! She is full on! Won't let me put her down and just gets very upset if I do. It is just a stage of the transition. I think while she thinks we are great she also misses the certainty of her life before and her Nanny. But my arms and wrists ache from suddenly carrying nearly 9 kilos constantly and it is very hard to get anything done. She did sleep through last night and fingers crossed for tonight although she woke briefly again a little while ago. Again I think with this transition she hasn't had proper deep daytime sleeps either. I will say on the plus side that she remains a very sweet little bundle who is lapping up all the cuddles and kisses and attention and rewards with smiles and snuggles and vocalisations
We are going to her village tomorrow to see the finding sites and maybe to visit the orphanage and perhasp meet the Nanny. Lots of maybes as it is very dependant on the benevolence of the Director of the orphanage.
The other 2 families went to their town today and got to meet the Director of the orphanage and then to meet the foster mothers which was so important. The one family who I have spoken with are very glad that they did even though it was emotional. Their little girl was very upset and wanted to go with her foster mother but she is much happier and more animated tonight. It sounded an amazing meeting literally on the side of the road in very rural China. The two women both about 60 yrs walked over an old bridge to meet them becasue the new bridge is being built. Their photos are amazing.
Snowbell continues to be fabulous. Such a great help and very patient with it all. We had a free day today so went for a walk locally this morning to find a supermarket to buy more formula. Really fun seeing all that there is to see and everyone is very freindly and helpful. Hugh has been fabulous although I know he is really looking forward to Shanghai where I think he will take off to do some site seeing. This afternoon he and another father had what sounds to have been a really wonderful play in the pool with the two girls - including being whales for the girls to ride on their backs as they dived under the water. Completly wrecked the laps the Chinese people were attempting to do. Here people do laps by going up one side then completly across the width of the pool then down the other side then back across the width of the pool.
Last night we were put in a dining room with the Chinese army doing Karaoke of Nationalistic songs. Apparently you prove your patriotism by singing ridiculously loudly - Ji Ji became completly distressed and we all found it excruciating anyway so we had to leave and our guide thankfully was able to get us a private room which works much better usually anyway as everyone smokes.
Must go to bed
